Savita Sundaresan

Savita Sundaresan started learning Carnatic music at the tender age of 4 from Guru Sampath Kumar acharya. Growing up listening to the many legends of Carnatic music led to a deep interest in her for this complex and diverse art form. Since 2009 she has been under the tutelage of Dr. Mala Swamy (Chennai) and has really come into her own as a singer. A third year engineering student at Imperial College London, Savita has weekly lessons over Skype and spends extended periods of her holidays in Chennai in “Grukullam” fashion learning new pieces and fine tuning the existing ones. As a result of the time and commitment to the art form, Savita has won multiple competitions including Watford Music festival and “Global Carnatician”.She has given several concerts across the UK and India and made her debut in the Marghazi December season in 2017 in Krishna Gana Sabha. Savita also is an exponent of Western flute and Bharatanatyam.
