Sampagodu S Vighnaraja is a well known Carnatic vocalist, a Flautist, a slide guitarist and a Composer started carnatic music training at the age 5 from his father Sangeetha Varidhi Sri D S Suryanarayana Bhat for about ten years, and in the meanwhile he also had 2 and a half years of training from his father’s senior deciple Vidwan Sri D N Subramhanya Bhat.
Vighnaraja started giving vocal solo concert at the age of 15 and has been performing for the past two and a half decades throughout South India and also abroad.
All India Radio graded artist in vocal, flute (self taught) and slide guitar (self taught) Vighnaraja has travelled and performed in foreign countries like USA, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and New Zealand.
Vighnaraja has also collaborated with many international artists including flute maestro S Shashank, Violin maestro Dr Mysore Manjunath and also performed Jugalbandhis with Surmani Pandit Praveen Godkindi, slide guitar jugalbandhi with Pandit Prakash sontakke and so on.
Vighnaraja has served as Head of the Instrument section in “Temple of fine arts” Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for 6 years from 2007 to 2012.
Vighnaraja presided over the 3rd youth music conference of Malleshwaram Sangeetha Sabha in 2019 in Bangalore.
Founder director of Surya Global music academy based in Bangalore, Sampagodu Vighnaraja has been training many aspiring students for the past two decades.
